I met AJ a few years ago through his brother. When he contacted me about shooting his Commissioning Ceremony, I’m not going to lie, I hesitated at first. This is something totally new to me, but I knew it would be an awesome opportunity! I asked him to send me more info and I started to get really excited! It was originally planned for Saturday, August 27th but hurricane Irene decided she didn’t want it to happen. So this past Saturday ended up being the big day! Now, before I get started- I am a small town girl and don’t venture into the city too often…. needless to say, I was totally freaking out about driving in the city. So I enlisted the help of my good friend Kristin who came along for what ended up being quite an adventurous trip. And I’m incredibly happy she did :) When we finally arrived, we saw AJ and his family getting out of the car, AJ and his father in their dress blues ready to go.
AJ recently graduated from the second part of Marine Corps officer candidates school after a combined 12 weeks of training in Quantico, VA. During the Commissioning Ceremony he was promoted to the rank of Second Lieutenant at the Iwo Jima Memorial in Rosslyn, VA. AJ has a pilot contract, so after 6 more months of training at The Basic School in Quantico, he an this wife, Julia, will be stationed in Pensacola, Florida for flight school! Woo Hoo, go AJ :) It was an incredible honor and privilege to be a part such an awesome event! I’m so excited for all that’s in your future AJ!! Congratulations :)
