A Very Special Feature…

It was October 2010 and I received the sweetest message from a girl just getting started in the photography industry. She expressed her excitement and how she’d been following my work. She went on to tell me, she too, was a Nikon girl and proceeded to ask questions about gear and so on… Soon after, she ended up hiring me for a mentor session. This sweet girl’s name is Heather. Heather and I hit it off immediately! We talked camera gear, lighting, pricing, marketing, you name it… After her consult, we stayed in touch. We continued to exchange emails regularly and every now and then, a phone call.

I don’t remember when everything changed, but it did. Somehow, somewhere along the line, Heather and I have grown to become great friends. It’s definitely safe to say she had become one of my BEST friends! She lives (and works) in New Jersey so I still hadn’t actually met her… I know, it’s crazy. One year after we met, in October of 2011, I was lucky enough to actually meet her!! (YAY!!!) I was so excited because she and her family would be in northern Virginia visiting her family. We scheduled a session at their home in Clifton, you can check them out here. It was so crazy meeting in person. I mean, we talked pretty much every day… and totally stalked her Facebook all the time, so I knew exactly what she looked like. But it was so cool! I loved finally meeting her, her beautiful children, her husband, everyone! We all had a blast :)

Our friendship has continued to grow. We talk on the phone pretty much every day now… I am so lucky she reached out that day. I’ve never met anyone like Heather. She has such ambition and such motivation that she inspires me to be a better person! Thank you Heather, thank you for being the amazing woman you are! I love having you as my friend and I am SO lucky you are a part of my life :)

So, back in February, when I had arrived home from WPPI, she mentioned she’d posted something she wanted me to check out. Now, my mind was in a whirlwind- filled with information, stories, ideas, inspiration, everything you can think of. After a day or so, I still hadn’t checked it out, so Heather sent me a friendly reminder again. I did, and boy was I shocked! I was so incredibly honored and excited that she posted a section on her blog about her photography inspiration and I was on it! You can see it here :) I immediately called her, filled with excitement. If only you knew how much of an inspiration you are to me….

I could go on, and on, and on about Heather and how amazing she is as a person and how much of an impact she’s made on MY life…. But I definitely want to tell you about her as a photographer! First and foremost, she is awesome! She has grown so much since we first started talking. She is so talented and I am really excited for where this crazy industry will take her. She is currently a portrait photographer specializing in seniors. Check out her site :) Yep, go ahead and bookmark it! I am super excited that she will be shooting with me at a wedding in August in New Jersey. We’ve never had the opportunity to shoot together, so I know we will have a blast! Oh yeah, and did I mention I’ll be spending the weekend with her?! Ahhh, I am so excited!

But seriously, thank you Heather! Thank you for being an amazing friend, a wonderful person, an incredible motivation and MY inspiration…. I love you girl!!!

xoxo <3
