It’s been a long time coming. My poor office has been SO disorganized and very lackluster for a while. I literally had “clean up office” or “organize office” on my to do list for months. It was pathetic. The small corner of our living room that I use for my office (if you can even call it an office… it’s really just a desk in a corner) was always jumbled with camera bags, papers all over the desk, piles of things… it was just a complete mess. It was very difficult for me to work in a space like that. I had known for a while that I wanted to jazz it up and add more of my personality to it but never made the time of put any effort into actually making it happen. Well, one weekend, I had a client reschedule her session and I was left with an open weekend. A completely open weekend, which NEVER ever happens. Ever. I decided I would completely redo my tiny office space! I started by cleaning out and throwing away everything I didn’t need. Then, I took everything off of my desk and cleaned like a madwoman. I took everything off the wall, filled the holes and painted over them. I even made a new home for my printer, Drobo and camera bags. These things are still very accessible, just in a much better place and out of my way. I wanted to start with a clean slate.
Interior Design is right up my ally. It’s something I’ve been passionate about ever since I can remember. Even when I was a little girl, I was always interested in colors, patterns and furniture. My mom and grandma have been in the antique business for years so I guess the whole loving furniture thing runs in the family. Anyway, I headed to Richmond to scout for fun, new (gold & sparkly) accessories to liven the space up. I was also looking for neat organizational pieces I could incorporate. Since painting the chair gold, I knew I needed some cool fabric to cover the cushion so everything would flow. I even picked up some pretty craft papers to fill some empty frames I had and to tie in the whole gold theme. After arriving home, I got busy getting everything organized and put away. Mama helped me with the chair cushion and made a back for my new gold frame. Everything came together and the office is complete. Everything is organized and has it’s place. There is a lot more I could’ve done, but for this weekend makeover I was pretty pleased. And as far at that before picture goes…. please be easy on me, I know that it’s quite horrendous.
