You all knew it was coming. Every so often, my sister and I like to get together for a session. We have so much fun picking out her outfits, choosing locations and getting her all dolled up. We’ve done the beach (twice), a vintage look by the train, we’ve done a jungle look, casual lifestyle portraits in Richmond, and a more couture-ish look. This time, I decided we should do something that represents where we come from. As kids, our grandma (Nannie) used to keep us during the day while Mama & Daddy were at work. Nannie and Papa lived on Windy Hill Farm in Frog Level, VA. Sarah and I loved playing outside, seeing the cows & chickens, and all the other farm animals. We’d help Nannie gather eggs, we’d shuck corn, feed the chickens, you could say we were real helpers. A lot of times, we’d swing on the swings on her back porch and watch the farm workers and tractors go by.
I chose to use our great uncles farm. I wanted something airy and open. Something pretty where the sun could shine down over the fields. We found the perfect spot. Although Sarah wouldn’t touch a cow, or even go close to a cow (she thought they were going to chase us) we had fun. When we get together, I swear all we do is laugh. I’m working on a little “experiment” so I had all kinds of stuff with me and she thought I looked hilarious. But SHE was the one wearing black, suade heels in a cow pasture. Just for the record, I didn’t pick out her shoes :) She loooooves her heels. All in all, we had loads of fun. Can’t wait for our next session together :)
