It’s one of the sweetest proposal stories I’ve ever heard. And I’ve heard quite a number of them. Each and every story unique and special in their own way. The story of Karie and Jeff’s proposal stuck out to me. Jeff had been planning to pop the question for a while… he knew where he wanted it to happen but he wasn’t sure how to get Karie there without her suspecting anything. He unsuccessfully tried once before but it didn’t seem to be right, nothing was going according to his plan. One special Sunday, it all fell into place. Karie’s nephew was doing an assignment with Flat Stanley. The assignment required pictures of Flat Stanley with landmarks/adventures from outside his area. Karie and Jeff had dinner that evening at Old Ebitt Grill and afterwards they decided to get some pictures of Flat Stanley with some of the monuments. This was the perfect opportunity for Jeff to lure Karie to “the spot.” As Karie positioned him in front of the Washington Monument, up on the hill, she turned around and didn’t see Jeff. She is surrounded by the breathtaking night time views of the monuments. This is one of their favorite spots, they come there often with a picnic and just spend time together. Jeff is behind Karie on one knee…. through excitement filled with tears of joy, Karie says yes!
It could only be fitting for us to go back to that perfect spot. We began their DC engagement session right there, at that place. It was so exciting for me to feel their excitement telling the story. I love when couples choose a location for their engagement session that has a significant meaning to them. It not only makes your images so much more special, but it brings you right back to that place in time where it all happened… where is all began. It’s exciting and that excitement is beautiful and genuine. Karie and Jeff are such an incredible couple and I’m so honored and excited to be a part of their special day! It was such a pleasure hanging out with them and hearing all about them while in DC. I can’t wait to see you guys in June!!
