What’s better than showing up to a session, getting out of the car to be greeted by an adorable little boy and his first words to you are, “You look beautiful.” Um, not much! Lucky for me, Wednesday evening I had the pleasure of photographing one of my favorite families! Remember their family session in downtown Fredericksburg from a couple years ago? It’s still one of my favorites :) And how could you NOT remember those two cutie pies?! I fell in love with those boys the minute I met them!

Brock and Brady have the cutest personalities I’ve ever come across. They kept me laughing and smiling throughout their entire session! I sure hope they had as much fun as I did :) Besides all the ticks (sorry guys!!) there were definitely some highlights to the session. First, Brady found a caterpillar while I was shooting some images of Brock in the field. They were so excited about it, that they named her Katie the Caterpillar. From that moment on, they carried Katie around in a cup and made sure she had plenty of “bread” to eat. And by “bread” I mean, tall grass. Brock got so excited when he saw the field he shrieked; “LOOK! 9 grain whole wheat bread everywhere!” Yep, I just about died laughing. Told you they are cute! And Brock was sure to carry his “bread” around for the remainder of the session.

We photographed half of their session on my grandma’s farm and the other half on my uncle’s farm. When we ventured to our second location, sure enough they brought Katie in her cup… only now she had a friend, Betty the Beetle. The boys carried Katie & Betty to the side of the barn where I was photographing their beautiful Mom, Melisa. There was definitely no struggle in getting a “natural laugh” because the boys just kept coming up with funnier and funnier stuff. Like the time when Brock says to me, “I loveeeee that silver rock in your nose” referring to my nose ring. Or when I told Brady to make Brock laugh and instead, Brock started tickling himself… and vise versa. It was way too cute! There were so many things they said and did that made me smile I can’t keep track of it all. They are so sweet and so polite, I just can’t get over it! LOVE those two!

Towards the end of their session, we headed over to the infamous dirt pile! Let me just tell you how much I LOVE that pile of dirt! I don’t know why, but I just do. I guess the main reason is that the rich, brownish-yellow tones photograph so beautifully! It looks like you are in another part of the country. If Junie (my uncle) ever bulldozes that thing, I’m in trouble. You may also recognize it from Zoe’s senior session! And I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks it’s cool. The boys loved the dirt pile too! They were having a ball exploring and checking it all out. And lucky for us, we got to see some deer tracks in the dirt :)

Melisa, Brady & Brock, you guys are awesome and I just love you!!! I had so much fun with you guys :) xoxo
