It was that feeling that you really know someone but you only know them from Facebook.
I guess it was about 2 years ago when I was photographing a little girls birthday party and a guy comes up to me and says, “Hey, are you Luke Gordon’s cousin?” I can’t remember how he knew but we ended up chatting quite a bit and soon we became friends on Facebook. Ryan and Luke worked together in Richmond for a few years. Not long after Ryan and I met, Allison (his girlfriend at the time) and I became friends on Facebook too. Turns out, Allison and Luke used to work together too and her brother went to VMI with him. So there are all kinds of connections there.
Well, Allison and I really hit it off. I felt like I really knew her even though we’d never actually met. When I found out they were engaged, I was SO excited! They are so perfect together and I was so happy to hear the news. So of course when Allison emailed me about shooting their wedding I was over the moon!! A few months passed and we FINALLY had the opportunity to meet last week. As I’d expected, she’s even more awesome than she is on Facebook :)
Allison and Ryan’s story is adorable.
She and Ryan met when Allison was interviewed BY HIM for a sales position at a company in Richmond. He ended up NOT hiring her since she would be leaving the next day for a 3 week trip to Europe. After she returned, she scheduled another interview for the same company in their marketing department and got the job! They worked right across from each other for the next couple of years and grew to become close friends. They began flirting and ended up growing much closer. The romance sparked after a romantic evening in Richmond. They continued to date before they fell head over heals in love with one another!!
For their engagement session, they decided they wanted something simple and pretty. We met at my grandma’s farm and shot there and then ventured over to my uncle’s farm for the other half of their session. It is always an adventure shooting on the farm… there’s lots of tall grass, fields, cow pies, mosquitos, ticks, prickly things ,oh yeah… and electric fences. As a child I remember being zapped a few times by those things! Well, Ryan being the gentlemen that he is, pulled down the electric fence for us ladies to cross and it turns out the bottom portion was still on. I felt so bad! Poor thing!
Despite the electric fence incident, the session went really well! These two are naturals. Seriously, I could photograph them ALL day! I had so much fun with them and their sweet doggy Jackson :) He was having fun running by the cows and roaming the fields! He is SUCH a cutie! I LOVE when couples bring their pets to shoots- I am an animal lover!!!! I am SO excited for their wedding in December… which Luke will be a groomsman in (Go Lukey!!) It’s going to be a blast! And Allison is going to make the most beautiful bride!
