New York, New YorkThis small town girl hit the big city

These past few weeks have been a whirlwind. I have had so much going on I can barely keep up! My most recent venture was traveling to New Jersey to photograph Joanna and Soren’s GORGEOUS wedding!

While I was there, I stayed with one of my absolute best friends, Heather! We had SO much fun! I stayed from Thursday through Tuesday and it was a trip packed full of activities and LOTS of firsts. Sunday she took me into New York City for my very first visit in my life! It was such a culture shock… definitely different than the country living I’m used to. I took more photos than I ever thought I would and it was definitely a neat experience!

Our first stop of the day was to the Adorama store! This is where I buy everything camera related that I own so this was a total must-see for me!

One of my favorite things about Adorama is their customer service. Joel is amazing and works with me on every single transaction! He is patient, kind, and the SWEETEST person! Always helpful and just an all around great person :) It was great visiting him again, I hadn’t seen him since WPPI!

Next up we had lunch in Union Square at the Coffee Shop! Yeah… those pancakes didn’t last long :)

And there’s beautiful Heather, everyone say “Hi Heather!!” Best.tourguide.ever.

Then, right as we are traveling along the streets I let out a shriek! Found the CUTEST little section of the city! I fell in love with this quaint little area with row homes filled to the brim with character! I think we spent a good 30 minutes on that little street!

It is no secret that I’m not a city girl, but if I had to live there… this is where you could find me :)

This guy was so excited and asked Heather to snap a photo of him!!

And THIS ladies and gentleman is Larry! He saw how interested we were in the pigeons and came right up to us. He introduced himself and introduced some of his pigeon friends. He was very sweet and taught Heather and I how to get the pigeons to come to us. He said he feeds them everyday. He also told me to be sure I check him out online… he told me what to look up and I promised him I would! Hahaha– so here you have it, Larry’s SECOND online feature! Check out his first here!

Eeeek! I loved the pigeons!!

After our lesson in pigeon catching, it was time for a trip to Soho!!!

As we are walking down the streets I said to Heather, “Isn’t there a Georgetown Cupcake here?!” Now, if you know me at all… you KNOW I am like Georgetown Cupcakes biggest fan! I freaking LOVE that place! She said she wasn’t sure, so I decided to look it up on my phone. No sooner than typing it in, I look up to see the Georgetown Cupcake sign and all of it’s glory! We hurried in to get in line only to find out Heather had NEVER experienced the amazingness that is Georgetown Cupcake!

I had Strawberry, one of my favorite flavors!

While Heather chose Red Velvet…. here she is taking her first bite!!!!

Another one of my favorite things… KATE SPADE! I am pretty sure there is nothing better :) Everyone laughs at my Kate Spade obsessed but I really can’t help it… I just love it!! Needless to say I was SO excited to visit!

And who other than Kate Spade could pull off this AWESOME gold, sparkly wall!?!?! I need this in my office!

So for the last part of the trip we headed to Times Square! And in order to get there, we rode the Subway– another first for me!

And here she is, TIMES SQUARE!

Of course I had to pose for a picture with the Cookie Monster :)

Hi Heather!

….and since I didn’t get the chance to see the real Statue of Liberty- this counts right?

Yep… never seen that many people in one place IN MY LIFE! The crowd was crazy!

After a long day of walking and sight-seeing we realized we didn’t have a single picture together! So we tried taking one…

Then we asked a nice lady to do it for us because the 50mm was getting a little up close and personal on us :)

And finally, THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING!! Yay :)

Your photos of NYC and the joy evident in your comments were a delight. I used to live in Manhattan, so you brought me much visual eye candy and many memories.

You finally made it to NYC!! Next on the list, Paris!!!! (I love that shot of you with the Statue of Liberty’s crown by the way). But I have to warn you, when you do go to Paris (I know you will eventually), please be careful having your camera out. It’s not like NYC… Oh, and don’t wear flip flops.

I grew up 45 minutes outside of Manhattan (and now live in VA), so I would’ve taken a trip like this for granted. I love how you showed me NYC as I’ve not seen it before, through fresh eyes. Awesome! So glad you had a good time! :)
